Who We Are
We are Running High, a small but dedicated team of people who organise events in and around Bath. Our biggest event is the Bath Half Marathon and every year from June through to May we live and breathe the Bath Half - one of the largest mass participation events in the South West and certainly one of the largest charity fund-raising platforms in the region
"We're a small team, with a simple objective, to organise and deliver the best possible event we can ......" Andrew Taylor, Race Director
What We Do
We work closely with the various local council departments to deliver hassle free parking and traffic systems on the day, as well as agreeing the various venues we need across the course. We also work closely with local schools and churches, not only to provide them with a way to raise money for charity, but to promote health via our Schools Initiative and organise Family Friendly spectator spots at local churches and, because we hold the main event on the Sunday morning, a brief service prior to the start
We also work closely with the 60+ charities aligned to the Bath Half, sorting out entries and general queries and promoting the charities to help fill their allocated entries. Last year alone over £1.3m was raised for race charities.
"We are delighted with the amount of money our runners raised through this years Bath Half Marathon - over £11,000. The money raised is extremely valuable to the charity that relies on donations from the public and fundraising events like this, and is enough to fund an entire lifeguard unit for one season."
Carla Rowley, RNLI Beach Events Manager
After race day, we dust ourselves down, hopefully give ourselves a pat on the back and start again for the next year. It's a lot of work but we love what we do and we hope you do too !
What We Believe
We believe that the Bath Half Marathon is not just about keeping fit on one weekend of the year, it's about much more than that. It's about promoting running and health in general; about self-belief, achievement and about improving personal well-being
With this in mind, we have worked hard to extend our training and support services beyond race day to :
-
worked with local running groups to set up specific training programmes for the event and to provide people with the means to continue exercising once the event is over
-
set up a Schools Initiative in local schools and introduced a Family Fun Run into the event schedule, providing children and adults of all running abilities the opportunity to have a go and be part of the event - without having to run the entire 13 mile course !
-
launched a Runners Support area on our web site, providing all year round training and medical advice
This is also how our 'More than Miles' tagline originated. Because as runners we appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that go into training and running a half marathon. But we also know that it's about more than running. It's about the adrenalin rush crossing the finishing line, the buzz of acheivement and the feeling that now you can conquer the world !
